To install a new pool here in Invercargill, you need to ensure that you are meeting the current safety and planning laws that are in place.
You may need a building consent to build your new pool and you will need a building consent to erect your pool fencing as stated under the Building Act.
It is a requirement under the Act that your pool is on the Invercargill City Council Pool Register.

This will either be done by an inspector from Invercargill City Council or you can hire an independent qualified pool inspector (IQPI) to do it instead. You will be notified via post when your inspections are due.

Which fibreglass pool is best suited to me in Invercargill?
Choosing your pool has to be one of the most exciting things about purchasing a swimming pool. While it is exciting, it can be a tad overwhelming, especially when you have as many choices to pick from as we do! So, rather than choosing the pool you think looks the best, it’s better to choose one that suits your swimming needs. This will ensure you use it often and you get maximum enjoyment out of owning a swimming pool. Whatever your swimming pool preferences are, we can help you find the ultimate match for your home and lifestyle. Our team can cover every facet of the build and will walk you through every option available to you including the pool itself, extras elements such as lighting, paving and fencing choices and so much more. If you would like to start researching your potential pool options, here are some things to think of:
Where the best location for the pool would be – You may only have one but if you have a few, this is for you. You want to be sure that you are not encroaching the space or putting the pool in a location that doesn’t make sense functionality-wise. If you’re not sure where to put your pool, worry not, our team will cover this with you.
Colour and style of pool – When choosing the colour of your pool, it’s worth considering the existing colour scheme of your property and which pool colours would tie in best with this.
Who be using the pool – Determining who will be using the pool can help you decide what important elements your pool should have. For example, if you have children and it’s likely them who be using the pool the most, swimming into the evening during summer is likely to be a regular occurrence so maybe adding lighting to your pool would be a suitable option. Additionally, you want them to be able to use the pool as they grow. They might be small now but they won’t be forever, so ensure the pool will be suitable for them as they get older and they won’t outgrow it.
Can I use my pool all year round with Invercargill's weather?
While Invercargill offers stunning weather during the summertime, winter, on the other hand, is quite cold and not typically ideal for swimming. Rather than closing up the pool and dreaming of warmer days, you can install a heating system that will enable you to use the pool for more months of the year. With solar heating, once you’ve covered the initial installation, the running costs are next to nothing.
Our passionate team of pool builders here at Fibreglass Pools Invercargill love being able to create stunning pool areas for our local friends. If you would like more information on the suitability of one of our pools or spas for your home, feel free to reach out!
